Maybe. The reputation that has been created by many a cosworth owner isn't good but what we need to be doing is basing our judgements on the cars themselfs, not the the owners. Belive me there are plenty of cocks who drive E30's, alot of them on here!

Also a few cosworth owners the i have known/heard/read about have dabbled with E30 325's and M3's but have gone back to cosworths through sheer boredom of performance. Its to easy so to get big power from one and the addrenaline rush from quick turbo four is addictive.
You would need to drop at least £5000 to get 260 bhp, that is atainable with just a chip in a YB turbo. If you droped £5000 on a YB turbo you would be getting well over 400 bhp.
When you compare the basics of both cars they are't too dissimilar, both are RWD, both have semi trailing arm suspension, both the same weight and both a similar size, hell even seat trim seems to last better in fords of the period! (Ask andyboy, he wrote this once in a mag an i totaly agree!)
Having owned both equal amounts of both cars i would say i have a fair unbiased judgement of both cars but if i had to choose between the two it would be an E30.
I dont see what all the fuss about Fuzzy's car is, i think the use of a YB turbo in an E30 is a briliant conversion as long as a non sought after E30 is used for this type of conversion. All those 318's and 320's are prime examples

Imagine smoking a porsche turbo in a 450bhp bronzit beige 4dr 320i! winkeye

Barry^ Its mainly the fact that they are one of the ugliest cars ever! They look like they were designed by their knuckleheaded owners :)

Exception are the early 2doors in white. I dont mind this one:

Ugly as in bland, no style whatsoever- a clear lack of enthusiasm from the designers.

Yes there are what some would call uglier cars but its the cars in the middle that dont look good or bad that I despise.
To me its in the same class as a mondeo, passat, laguna etc

wasnt the sierra the first modern car to be mass produced in that aerodynamic jelly mould shape? :? everything before it seemed to be hard, sharped edged designs and that led on to evertyhing else going the same way for a good few years after it. i cant argue with bland, its one of the reasons i dont just buy a cosworth winkeye

Saphire cossie in Magenta

I dont think saphire cosworths are ugly in the slightest..........Its all down to personal opinion i suppose, a Tech 1 sport might be seen as ugly by some people.

Yes, but then that would be people with bast taste! Technically the e30 is a much more aesthetically pleasing motor vehicle without question.
There are certain rules/laws that make things look good. Certain colours go with certain colours, certain lines go with certain lines, proportion etc etc.

For example: You may like a dining room with green, red and brown walls with a chrome ceiling but it is not technically good looking. D'ya get me bredda?

I'd love to try a Cossie of any description. Closest I've got is a Sierra XR4i with 2.8i Cologne V6 I borrowed off an Essex lad and it wasn't a bad drive (though I did feel a bit of a boy racer with all the bodykit, double rear wing, etc.), it wasn't as pleasant as a good E30 six pot, feeling somewhat 'thrown together' in comparison.

whats regarded as good looking is purely a matter of personal taste or lack of it.

ive had both the 2 door and the 4 door cosworth, an ive got to say, i had a lot more fun in my 2wd saphire, and it was alot nicer to dive.. but i did prefer the look of my 2 door.. i also dropped one of my spare cossie motors in a s1 rs turbo for a laugh... that was mental, used to take it traking and ramp it through bushes

Both can be applied to Sierra and E30, both have pleasing lines, proportions and forms and for colour schemes and remember these badboys are from the late 80's to early 90's since when does taste apply?

chavvy isnt the car itself though its what some of the owners have turned them into. theres much more to life than e30's. go out there and sample some of it first.

Personally, i think the cosworth is much more of a cult car than a 325i sport..............They were the car that started the whole 'Super saloon thing' Way before Subaru, MItsubishi and Audi...........And even BMW

i think that all fords have a great following not just cosworths , and as you say the sierra cosworth was one of the first super saloons , i have a 2wd sapph cossie , and think its great as when i was growing up they were the car that every other car was compared ,almost a benchmark of what a fast car was :D

You're right it wouldnt. But- that means they have no sense of "style" and whoever thinks that a sierra is a prettier car than a e30 is wrong!

Yes but you have got your e30 tinted glasses on and think the only car in the world worth having is an e30 sport

You seem to have a passion for the old sierra e36boy! Getting defensive? Are you 18 stone with a shaven head, loads of tats, gold chains and punch some faarking caarnt every friday?

There are MANY cars I think are better looking than the e30. The sierra is NOT one of them although there are some fords that are better looking without doubt.

Lets be honest all the bmw, ford and audi of the era are all blown away by the nissan skyline r32 gtr which i think looks better, drives better and is most capable out the lot

the problem with jap cars from that era though is they are built with the crappiest thinnest steel and very bad for rusting. ive been there with the old jap stuff.

Im not getting defensive, I just find it funny when people like you get on there high horse and start ranting on about how there e30 is better than any other car in its class.

This is an e30 forum and im a fan of e30's but unlike some people, i give credit to other iconic cars of the same era as the e30.
