First time ive seen this, whats with all the daft category malarky? :?

Santa Pods categories are fine for everything else, why not this?

I think some may be trying to give themselves a better run before they arrive

At the end of the day, fastest is fastest and everything else is slower :)

id go with they catagories. that would put me in the same grouping as 1.6's, 1.8's and is's therefore increasing my chances of a group win. :D

TBH was hoping for a few more entrants in C1....?

Fuzzy shouldnt be allowed to bring that bastardised thing anyway :)

If you are trying to make it easier for the iS dreamers why not just have a non BMW engine category? Freaks corner type thing :)

I mean, why is ste in with FI cars? Surely the FI should have categories of their own?

Just looks a right mess IMO

The only thing quicker than Fuzzy's car will be the drop out rate when Zone Apathy kicks in...

Well i did tell all my friends my beema is on the road this summer, but somehow drag strips dont like my car too much, i always end up braking something. Does it matter if your engine is not a bmw  ?

Ive only just seen this thread (great idea BTW) so I dont want to confuse matters any, but was just thinking the same thing as this...

As it is now, there are standard 325i's, 327i's and M3's in the same category, so why not have the M50's etc in there as well.
How about these categories - Its not radically different to what was already done, Ive just separated NA from FI.

A1 Under 1991cc NA (M10, M40, M42, M20B20)

A2 Under 1991cc FI/NOS

B1 Over 1992cc under 2950cc NA (M20B25, M50, M52, S14)

B2 Over 1992cc under 2950cc FI/NOS

C1 Over 2950cc NA (M30, S38, S50)

C2 Over 2950cc FI/NOS

A1, B1 and C1 would cover all NA engines for the given cc, there are no limits to tuning or make of engine.
A2, B2 and C2 would cover any FI/NOS application for the given cc - in the case of B2, M20/M50 turbos and cossies etc are all together.

I realise its not totally fair to have an M20b25 up against modded S14s, or an M30 against an S38, but then you would need a category for almost every engine fitted to an E30 to make it fair. Adding modded NA categories for example would make it even more complicated.

I think doing it this way is an easy way to keep the number of categories down (6 seems to be good), and maybe show the potential of different tuning methods - M20 against M50 for example or how do modded M20/M50s stack up against S14s???
Maybe when peoples times are being posted on the Zone, a quick spec of their car should be added to give a basis for comparison.

Yeah, I did think about the M30 guys, but I figured its kind of similar to the M20/M50 battle. And TBH, I reckon the M30s could give the S50s a good run, especially some of the modded M30s.

As I said, its not going to be totally fair but I think its the fairest way, considering some of the cars we have on here. Its either that, or have loads of different classes

the trouble is you soon run into the problem of having too many classes!! Like one for every engine in an e30

Tbh i reckon ste will stand a chance against the FI boys.. They will either a) blow up b) spin up c) not turn up

But its not just Ste with an M50/M52.

Thats what I said - you would need standard engine, standard engine modified etc etc etc. It would go on for ever.

By sticking to engine size classes with NA and FI sections, theres only the 6 classes - thats not too OTT.

James, I really like the alterations.

Think we may go ahead with these classes if the rest of you are in agreement.

Dan, We could use santa pods classes, but I wanted to give all of the cars a fair chance to win something. Yeah it could be a little confusing but I think it will work well.

Are you entering? :D
