E30 25th Anniversary Meet - 30th March 08
Moderator: martauto
Not a bad idea Andy. Probably get a bigger turnout anyway.
Thanks for the PM reply Neil, much appreciated.
BMW obviously feel we're just too inferior for them. They can't even be bothered to reply to my email above...

It's not that, but look at it from their point of view and the possible aggro! If the BMWCC arranged it, it would probably be a goer.Gortour wrote: BMW obviously feel we're just too inferior for them.
Anyway I'm not bothered. When my Dad worked there 1982-4 I regularly saw a car park full of NEW e30's..............
Heard from Michelle at BMW today, she's giving our request details to the Marketing Department...
(she's Facilities Coordinator)
... so hopefully... watch this space...

Guys, It's already happening via the BMW Car Club on July 12th;
"BMW GB have invited the E30 register and BMWCC members to attend a meet at GB HQ at Bracknell
The invite was made in December but it has taken some time to work out the finer points and these are still ongoing to make the meet more interesting...
The plan is to get a good car display to show BMW GB the sorts of cars true enthusiasts enjoy and show how new cars become treasured old cars.
Hopefully we will also be able to have a selection of other rare and classic cars on display but we cant confirm this as yet.
Also we are still waiting for confirmation from BMW owners, and motoring experts who will hopefully present their BMW experience.
This is our opportunity to show BMW GB what the carclub is all about with some of the older models.
Please contact me by email or PM to add your details to the list...rather than list all your details on the forum.
Ideally I would like your car details, contact details and confirm attendance.
Cheers
Neil"
Rather than farting about and banging your heads against a brick wall, it might be better to attend this if the BMWCC will let you. I don't see an issue as long as the idiots stay away.

Neil (Cabrio) has kindly invited us to attend the Car Club Brands Hatch meeting.
I'm still waiting to hear back since the last message, but from what Andy's saying, it ain't likely to happen...
Still, it ain't over 'til the fat lady sings...
I'm not a car club member, but obviously any Zoners that are will be welcome at their meet in July.

Yeah, that's why I'm trying to get our own meet as well, but at the end of the day, the CC E30 boys do have a common interest with us... no reason we shouldn't get along.ivqii wrote:BMWCC? Thats me out then I'm afraid Gord
Strange now we are 30 the CC throws us a crumb

Well, sorry guys, but it ain't gonna happen... Here's the response from BMW today.
Dear Gordon
I have spoken to Senior Management and their response is as follows. We do accommodate the BMW Car Club, however this is the only meet we hold at the BMW head Office. Unfortuantley the decision is not to accommodate your event. This is not just your club you must understand, in general we do not hold events at our premises, and most certainly not at the scale you are asking.
I am sorry we cannot be of more help in this matter and wish you success in finding a more suitable venue.
Kind regards
Michelle
So it looks like we need some more ideas guys and girls. Sorry. I did my best.

Agreed. Shame Andy wasn't right earlier though. This was all initially his idea.
Still, we gave it our best shot. As said, any alternative ideas welcome - sooner rather than later if we want something for the end of March.

Great idea, but probably a bit of an oversized option.
Cost would probably be prohibitive, and I doubt we'd get a large enough crowd to make it acceptable.
Any ideas of pubs with large carparks in the similar vicinity, and we could do a meet a bit like the charity meet in Essex.

As a contingency, we could meet at the burger wagon and I could contact Dave at the Royal Oak (right out in the downs) and I am sure he would once again give us his field to the rear of the pub.
We had a drive from Goodwood once before to his pub, lovely undulating drive, good nosh etc.

that sounds like a plan to me^^^^^
Sounds good to me Iain, I was thinking more along the lines of a large meet nearer to Bracknell, as a central point for all people, along the lines of the charity meet in Westerham in Kent last year that Shane organised.
But... That idea sounds great. The Oak is a lovely pub, and the carpark should be large enough to hold us all. Deal me in.
Is this still going to be end of March? I propose the weekend of 29th / 30th if so, as the weekend before being Easter, we could get a lower turnout as people will be busy or away.

Brooklands wouldn't be up for this either I don't reckon. To much of the beard, pipe and real ale brigade down there to appreciate our cars. Shame as I did a Triumph meet there one christmas. Only a few cars turned up, 20 max, but we utilised the paddock area in front of the main building. Was a good meeting.
