as some of you aware my father in law is technical director gaz shocks.
i aske d him if i could do group buy for zone.
as i,m not technical minded will type this as he dictated to me.
THE KIT IS FRONT AND REAR FULLY ADJUSTABLE COILOVER KITS
WITH BUMP AND REBOUND RIDE HEIGHT.
AT THE MOMENT THESE KITS ARE MADE FOR TOYO TYRES AND BMW CAR CLUBS RACE CHAMP CARS.
REARS ARE ROSE JOINT TOP MOUNTS FULLY ADJUSTABLE.
we need five or more to get them trade which is £628+vat full set.
if you need front top mounts its extra£120+vat.
now i,m making nothing from this doing it for zone and dave doing it for me.
any technical questions have to ask dave lyon but obviously take longer.
dont forget these are front and rear race prep coilovers best of best.
genuine interest only once ive got enough interest then i can ask technical questions and probably get photo of kit also.
thanks for taking time to read.

you will need to supply old struts as far as I know. At least for M3 struts.
And a set of rear top mounts (can be old ones) to be converted to rose joints
I think you can't beat GAZ's value for money. I know several cars running them and they are all happy. My funds are a bit low at the moment, otherwise I would be in. I have spoken briefly to Dave Lyon at Autosport exhibition and he can taylor everything to your needs (don't know if this is part of this GB)

is the rear a proper coilover unit which replaces the seperate damper and spring with an all in one unit which fits in place of the stock damper? or do they use a seperate damper and a spring on an adjustable platform like the kw and ground controll kits?

He's not asking if it's a full setup..
It's what type of setup on the rear. An ACTUAL coilover, I.E a coilspring over the shock like Mcpherson.
Or a separate shock and spring like most other 'coilover' kits.

Another thing to my wish list
So the rear you can adjust camber/castor like the front?
I don't see how it would adjust toe though

sorry but have to chime in. The rear rose joint will NOT adjust camber or caster, the rose joint is to replace the OEM top rubber mount (= weak)
You can adjust the ride height and the damping, but nothing on the geometry.

no you cant, you can't adjust camber or toe at the rear without using offset bushes and / or a modified subrfame. the rear arm has 2 pivots, it will move in exactly the same arc whether theres a damper there or not.
the front is different as the strut is a structural locating member, moving it at the top changes the geometry at the hub.
i would like to know what strengthening GAZ reccomend for the rear turrets, theyre not designed to take the full suspension load, and the area is known to fail even on standard cars with standard shocks and soft topmounts, letalone a full coilover setup

how many failed rear turrets have you seen for yourself? I haven't seen one, but I have seen at least 5 M3's with rear coildovers doing just fine.
And that is with springrates well beyond stock springs. Fit a Z3 plate and all will be fine.

dave at gaz has got 25 years susspension experiance.
does anyone honestly think he would make anything that doesnt work.
and supplys to all e30 race spec cars on bmw car club and to pbmw
cars.
next week i will post up photo,s and if i get five then five zoners
got a fantastic deal.
.
thanks again for anyone genuine.probably give this thread two weeks

Would you please ask your father-in-law what would be the height adjustability (I'm looking for a kit that will be able to provide a marginally lower stance than stock like say 15/20mm), is it a 1 way or 2 way adjustment? About the spring rates can we choose the spring rate or is it a one size fits all?
Cheers
Frank

And on this point you are absolutly certain??? Do you have a pic of these Z3 plates?
I'm still uncertain, this is a lot of money to shell out in one hit, not that i'm slagging! It looks the mutts nutts
Do GAZ require a pair of struts first or is there a surcharge?
Cheers,

just been on phone to dave again.they do need strutts to make shocks but at no extra cost
also francisco they are 2 way adjustable and can achive minimal drop of 20mm and you can choose spring rating.once enough orders in pm me your details and phone no and i will get gaz to contact each of you with your specific order.e30 of course
they are making eight pairs at mo.as for singular price your talking over£900 + vat so if thats not a saving i dont know what is.

so wats the turn around on sending them your struts and you getting the finished product made. i share a workshop with my brother and my working area is infron of the door so the car cant be laid up for more than a 2 weeks really as he is also building a rally car and needs to be able to get it in and out the shed.

Similar situation to mikekean, as in need to have the car on the road. I could send the struts the day after delivery of the coilovers. If that would work??
