---------------------------------

First group buy has now ended

Would any one be interested in a glass fibre boot lid? I friend of mine said he could make up a mould but he'd need some orders for before he'd go ahead etc. If this goes well there could be scope for bonnets etc but the boot lid is a nice easy one to start off with :) Looking at having just the outer skin for weight and also cost reasons.

I took my boot lid off the other day and was quite suprised how heavy it was!

Get ya names down if interested :) Price is likely to be circa £60-£70

This may be of use to him

I'm in but still looking for one so will be out if I get one in the meantime.

Edit just to clarify - If we get an agreed price and delivery date etc then I'm happy to commit and won't bail on an agreed deal, I meant I'm out if I find one before this deal is done :thumb:

I'm down for two now as my brother is building another e30 racer. How many does your mate need to make it viable for him to go ahead?

The rate at which time moves scares the crap out of me. The chap I am talking to used to work for Dymag and is local to me. Here is his website if any one is interested: www.c12cfd.co.uk

I'm just waiting to hear back from him on definate prices based on 6 or 7 units and I'll keep you posted :)

Nope get ya name down.

I'm taking a boot lid over to him this week so he can price it up.

I can also get good prices on Aerocatches too if people are wondering how to fit them.

I'm just doing a boot lid at the moment. It's a nice easy panel to get done first then we can go from there :)

I'm taking the lid to the guy tomorrow afternoon and I will report back.

The local chap I spoke to wanted way too much. I have spoken to a company called ABS who specialise in GF and CF parts and make body panels for many BTCC teams.

They have given me the following prices!

RRP: £114 + £18 delivery
Offer price: £85.20 + £12 delivery
Total saving: £34.80

10 people
RRP: £114 + £18 delivery
Offer price: £72 + £12 delivery
Total saving: £46

Will have a couple of bootlids if there are 8 others (ie at the ten buyers price) as it's not that far off the original estimate.

http://bmwfans.info/parts/catalog/E30/2 ... ng_system/

Original steel bootlid is 9.5kg according to this.

And 15kg for the bonnet.

http://bmwfans.info/parts/catalog/E30/2 ... work/hood/

But total weight saving you'd also include the hinges brackets etc that are no longer being used.
