312mm Brembo Brake Adapters

Hi everyone I'm currently studying product design at UCLAN Preston. I have decided to use my skills and the prototyping equipment available to me for some small mods on my E30.

My first project is to develop a set of brakes based on available components. I'm still at the research phase and I have found the appropriate discs and calipers.

So far I have a 312mm design that uses Brembo calipers. The cost is about £350 for this set-up and is the equivalent to the one being offered at 300mm.de for 1.249,00 EUR.

If you are interested in a set let me know.

If you are using 4 pots, you should be able to get the both of those under 16's.. I can get 345's under 17's with room to spare

I'm using E38 730i Brembo 4 pots for the 312mm set and they are huge. Everything is arriving this week so i can start with the adapters.

Same system can be seen here

Im sure i,ve got a good set of those e38 brembo 4pots in my garage,so count me in for a set prob for the 16" rim. Also how about a set for the 5 stud e30 m3,i would be interested in something for that set up as well. :)

Ok got the final design ready and the first prototype was laser cut from mdf for testing and fits perfectly. It looks like the 312mm E38 calipers will fit under 16" wheels. They fit under my 17" alpina reps with loads of room but I will need to use 10mm wheel spacers. I will work on something for the M3 soon but it will be more like 325mm.

Ok I will be ordering 10 sets of adapters next month. They will allow you to run 312mm discs and E38 Brembo Calipers on your car. I bought a set of E38 Brembo calipers from ebay for £70. You will need at-least 16" alloys and spacers to run these brakes.

First you can buy the discs from ebay for £99.99 they are 4x100 Audi TT discs the centre bore is 65mm and will need to have the centre's opened up to 66mm. I had this done at a local machine shop for £20. Or i have been intouch with MTEC Brakes and we can get them ready made for £95 + pp if we order 10 sets. The cost would still be around £120 or more because of 2x postage costs.

The adapters are available from me in 2 options.

(option 1 CNC Laser cut) 12mm 6082 T6 Aluminium for £40 posted you will need 2x 12x40 bolts to fit them + 2 x 12x2mm washers for spacers.

(Option 2 CNC Laser cut & Milled) 12mm 6082 T6 Aluminium for £60* (*still waiting on quote from machine shop) posted. adapters have been machined down 2mm. so no need to use washers as spacers. You will need 2x 12x40 bolts to fit them

Or a CNC Milled version £???

I have ordered Option 1. For option 2 I send them to a machine shop to be milled but I think it would be cheaper for you to get them done with the discs . I will post a fitting tutorial soon :)

I used TT discs on my car, bought them locally and had them machined at a shop down the road, worked out about £100 just for one set.
If your interested I can get a quote for machining a few sets see if the price will come down much?

I'll have a set of these. How/when do you want payment?

1 Taxin option 2
2 Padi option 2
3 Craig option 1
4 noclue option 1

I was just having a browse for discs, and found these at ecp: >>clicky<<.

They are the correct diameter, pcd and centre bore but have 9 holes which seemed a bit odd, but having looked at the pic above the disc appears to also have many holes, do they fit 4 and 5 stud hubs? Anyway, they are only £68.34 for a pair delivered (with a 15% discount using the promo code 'discpads15')

They need holes drilling and the centres enlarging to fit E30 hubs, good price mind

Hi they only fit the 730 brembos. You can find the calipers on ebay I got a set for £70. I only supply the adapters. The only bolts you need are 2x M12x40mm you can get them on ebay or any hardware store.

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... _500wt_922

You can get the disc's from ebay you need the centers machined from 65mm - 66mm

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... 2197wt_905

If you needed the discs machined i can get them done for you but they would cost £140 due to postage costs.

Got mine also

So the first thing I done was to bolt them on to my brembo 4 pots 8)

But the bolts wouldn't go all the way through the holes in the brackets,

No biggy tho, I just opened them up a bit with a round file,

Mebbies the next batch could do with a slight increase in the hole diameter,

Just slightly

Good quality otherwise

Cheers mate :D

Hi this is just some slight laser melting around the holes some are OK and some are a bit tight but the bolts will go through. I will check the next ones and file them down.

Taxin, what sort of clearance do you have on the caliper to the wheel? I'm running the same wheels as you, but want to swap to bbs style 5 wheels, and im trying to figure out what size spacers im going to need to clear the caliper. I see your running 10mm spacers, but it doesnt seem quite enough to me.

Any info would be great.
Cheers Chris.

On my 17" alpina reps i need to run 15mm - 20mm spacers

Ah I did wonder as it seemed like I'd need more that 10mm. Will give me and idea though for the bbs that I want to fit.

Cheers Chris.
