Guys,
Some of you may have used Lamin-X products before, some may not...
For those of you who don't know their products, they supply a range of light and paint protection films that come in a range of sizes and colours including clear,
'optic blue',
yellow,
'gun smoke',
'subtle tint' and
red.
These can be used to create some very nice effects at a very reasonable cost! Some of you may have seen Dips' green V8 touring with the yellow headlights and fogs. These were done using Lamin-X products!
Anyway, their website can be accessed at
http://www.lamin-x.co.uk/
UPDATE 3/11/10:
A new 10% discount code has been issued to all E30 Zone forum members. Simply enter '
e30zone' in the discount code field when paying for your items on the Lamin-x site.

mmm... like the subtle tint and smoked gun but is this road legal as it must block light output [especially smoked gun!]

Apparently it doesn't block the light output enough to make it illegal. Personally I will be opting for the light tint option when it becomes available to buy in TWO WEEKS' time. This sort of stuff would be even better with a HID kit IMO and there certainly wouldn't be a problem with light shining through with those!!

Not sure on the Hellas but I'm going to get some of the light tint stuff as the gun smoke looks pretty dark! With the red film for the rears you'll probably need yellow bulbs/LEDs to go in the indicators to make them flash orange still... They sell these on the site.

I have just been informed by the very helpful Neil at Lamin-X that the subtle tint headlight film is now available.
I've just put in my order with the 10% discount (effectively free P&P)

Well I've got two 12x8" sheets but I haven't used them yet. I'm pretty sure they will do both sets of front lights fine but if you're not certain go for the slightly taller sheet (10" if there is one).
I'm no artist but it can't be that hard (famous last words)! There weren't any templates that I could see. The american site do templates for E30s but the shipping costs double the price of the stuff to us in the UK...

Once people have done their lights in whatever films you're going for, send pic's to me and I'll put them in the Original Post with Dips' so people can see when they open this thread...

thing with the yellow it look in my opinion rubbish when the car was red but as i have sprayed it black now, well in the process it looks 10x better.
oh and i doubt the indicators will show amber through the red film.

I think you will need yellow bulbs, which can be bought from the Lamin-X site or elsewhere too I'm sure to make rear indicators flash orange with red tint film on...
Happy Xmas all BTW.
