right then here we go,
i thought id start a new thread on the actual build to keep it clean and findable.

heres what my plans are.

2x T3 something turbos or a set of Holsets (undecided yet)
2x tial waste gates or one if i have the room
custom exhaust manifolds
vacuum lines
set of oil lines, feed and return
oil cooler
set of water lines feed and return
2x intercoolers which both turbos use
relevant pipework
new set of head gaskets good oem ones
ARP head studs
Skimmed pistons to achieve the right compression (if possible)
headwork if budget (or mrs allows it)
convert to wasted spark
aftermarket ECU (undecided on which one yet)
siemens motorsport injectors

thats all i can think of for the minute but open to suggestions

iv started out by taking the M60b40 back out of the old girl

Sounds good, for about 500bhp?

id say 500-600bhp and more torque than needed to spin the earth, depending on current setup

Looking good - by eck that engine is a squeeze in there as it is!! Where are you planning on mounting the turbos?? Up high by the cam covers?? Not a bad plan that - you can take the weight off the manifold by fabricating brackets to the cam covers like Sierra cosworths did for GP A... winkeye

Inter cooling looks like a whole load of fun too - looking forward to seeing how this progresses! :thumb:

yea i was going to pop both turbos up by the cam covers, wouldn't fit them under as its so tight between subframe and block.
intercooling the bugger is going to be a mission though.

iv finished modding and lowering the subframe and steering rack by a inch.

started looking at the seals on the gearbox today and replacing the spring that centres the gear stick but didn't get that far.
anyone know how i would replace the spring that helps the gear stick centres while i think about it?

abit more progress........ bad news though,
i done a leak down test on all cylinders and found out that mostly all valves weren't seating properly and wasn't holding pressure in the cylinders.
so now iv stripped down the heads off the block.
would you say this block has nikasil bore liners?

Hi mate just looked at your build I'm currently putting the 3.0 v8 in a convertible e30 I had lying about and struggling with manifolds have you still got yours for sale. Very interested? And did you put the e34 steering rack on there or stick with the e30 one?

Hi tony
I'm using the e46 rack on mine mate but it's quite similar body wise.
I do have both the manifolds and whole exhaust system to fit them as well that I'll be selling. These arnt bird shit welded bodge job manifolds either

I'm going to follow the build mate, as I'm either going to twin or single turbo mine, I've got most bits for mine apart from turbo/s are you using t28's or something, want clutch fly are you going to use?

with injectors I've got 840cc deka's

you should be able to find out if its nikasil liners via a number thats no the block and does your gearbox leak oil? is that why your replacing seals? if it is I've had some much pain with mine leaking i changed all seals and even flange thinking it was that i popped a pipe on the breather and stopped leaking lol nice easy fix

They are some big injectors! How much power you going for?

Re:

by Darrenr
80lbs, i want anything between 450-600 but only want to be running 80%duty or less and room for more or if i want to use E85 or some other mix.

they probs are a tad on the large side but I've seen people getting 700whp out of turbo'ed m60's so stepping in to the unknown really.

Should be good for around 850hp @ 80%.

Would love to see an e85 build, what's the availability like in the UK?

Re:

i don't think i will go down that route if i don't have to but i will be running some sort of ethanol blend, you can't get E85 at pumps in the UK i don't think but the car is for track use only at the moment anyway

i think 850 will be a bit to much in a e30 lol ill be hoping for about 600 i guess just want to future proof it, I'm in New Zealand for another 5 months before i return to the UK to build it

Yesterday i gave both the heads over to have the valves reseated, cylinder heads acid dipped and a possible skim if needed. they should come back all tiptop.

i have a set of Garrett T28/25 but iv recently stepped it up to a couple T3s, ill post a few pics in a min to show size difference. I'm running a Lightened S62 M5 flywheel and uprated S62 clutch set up along with the 6speed box.

as for the Nikasil my engine code shows it shouldn't have them but the block looks brand-new, like bmw changed it at some point?

the gearbox flange was weeping bait and was driving me crazy so id thought id change the seal as i have it out but i think ill do that pipe on the breather trick as well wink eye
did you run it just to open air?

just out of interest how much was your 850cc injectors darren?
i was going to go for the semens motorsport injector.

heres the engine number if someone could shed some light on that....

yeah i just ran a breather to atmosphere and never leaked again, i also changed the shaft seal to a after market wider seal, my injectors are seimens deka's there are fromm the usa they where not to expensive about £300 i think which is apt cheaper than bosch and cheaper than anything you can get in the uk because they use EV1 a lot in LS engines.

id be going for the T28's too ;)

Re:

by Driftben
ohh right cool ill pop a breather on there as i have it out,
how much was the thinker shaft seal? sounds like a wicked idea.

iv made up my mind now and gone for 2 garrett T3 turbos, i just need to find someone to rebuild and balance them.

next week i should have both the heads back and then its a hunt for a good strong OEM head gasket.

iv also been in contact with ARP and they are going to sort me out a set of Head studs so if anyone is interested then let me know

Re:

it was about £4 lol go to a local bearing place and match one up, they have the numbers stamped on the stock speak just get one wider, I'm not in the UK so can't tell you then numbers but a breather sorted all my problems out.

id be keen to find out a price of ARP bolts but to be honest a lot of people use stock block/head gasket and studs and some people are pushing over 600whp without a problem

Re:

by Driftben
Oh right cool! I didn't think of that. I'll have to get myself down there and get a wider bearing.

I finally have a price from ARP for a head stud kit weighing in at a super cheap £180 delivered. That's 20x studs, washers and nuts. These things are serious bits of kit too.

Might be able to get them cheaper with a group buy too?

Is he, what twin turbo manifolds or just N/A m60 manifolds? The ones on his Facebook right now look spectacular and expensive ;)

twin turbo manifolds for a M60 in a E30, think they basically finished, unless he's building another set.

turbo m60's are going to be come very common over the next few months early next year. its only the UK that are behind lol

Yea he's still building the set with anti lag (god knows why you'd need it in a e30)
Need to get mine finished sharpish.
I suspect that I am going to get valve float with the standard valve springs so I'm now looking for a good heavier equivalent.

i wouldn't worry to much about it people in Europe are running 650WHP+ on stock blocks, Im going to be well behind on my build i don't get back to the UK till feb/march time.
