Just fitted turbo to 2.5 have a few questions.

Hi, Just completed the fitting of the turbo and megas squirt. I have had it all mapped and runs really sweet. All i have done so far is fitted the turbo and ancillaries, fitted ms2 extra and got it running. I have done nothing to the engine yet. I have ran it round for the weekend at 5 psi sweet but ive done the clutch. I'm looking to run around 300 horses. So my questions,
1. Whats the best clutch for 300bhp? Bear in mind its got a welded diff so i'm sideways a lot, and it a daily drive.
2.I have arp studs on order. How do i find out the compression ratio of my engine to work out if i need 3mm headgasket??
3. What injectors do i need to run?
Any to anyone thing of doing the conversion, do it! Ive spent about £1500 to date. The sound and feel of driving a car that generally isnt turbo'd is ace.

mate your bit behind on the turbo scene lol ive got a 6 puc paddle clutch in mine but mines not a daily driver just a weekend and summer car
as for injectors you need at least 32lbs for 300 bhp
you wont need a 3mm head gasket a stock late engine will take a bar of boost on standard internals with your arp head studs a stoc bottom end will hold over 400 bhp for sure witht the right tune
but like screech said how did you get it mapped with stock injectors surely the duty cycle will bog out

Its a Greg so 89/90.
So clutch wise im looking for something better than standard but i dont need to go as far as a 6 puck race clutch.
No there is no bog at 5psi, we had it up to 7psi with no probs. Theres still some more there the fueling is spot on. I havent even touch the spark tables yet. its running 15 -20 degrees across the board.

Will definitely need bigger injectors when i start getting the horses up. What do the 32lbs come out of??

Just had a look its only running 200bhp at the wheels, so around 240 at the fly.

Sound, so if i have this correct i do not need to change the compression?? Would you recommend a different gasket from stock or just replace with stock bmw gasket when i do the studs?

Yer i'll deffo change the head gasket, i'd rather do it now before it goes and causes me more probs. plus doing it sooner rather than later means is just a straight gasket swap, i'll have that done in a few hours. Can sort my leaky oil return at the same time

always a plus you can get uprated clutch covers for the standard friction plate but for the amount they cost it would be cheaper to get some thing like mine i only paid i think it was 250 quid shipped for my clutch from the states

200 bhp on stock injectors they must of been proper maxed out that sounds like that was running a tad lean.
STD injectors run out of puff on a 180 NA M20 B25 and practically useless on a Na 2.7 runout of grunt, so suspect 200 ponies is not quite there yet... 42 lbs state sis the best TBH but take a few days to come like ross said.

I'm telling ya the fueling is fine. we took it up to 7 psi and ran 270 and the fueling was fine. In fact there was even some left over to pop a few flames.
How your gear box holding up with the 6 puch??

well after a day of checking out different set ups ive gone for this bad boy:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/F1-RACING-COMPL ... 255c20c67d
As the clutch has gone and i cant drive the thing

ive decided to take the head off. Gonna run the head down to cylinder head developments down the road and get the to check the valves and guides. while its there i'm gonna get the exhaust side opened up.
So next question is if im getting standard head gasket is there anything i should look out for or anywhere i should go?

Hi, I bought a clutchmasters 6 paddle, took about a fortnight to come. I used CTS Turbo in california for my injectors (440's) and my walbro pump. (contact was a guy called nik -(
nik@ctsturbo.com). I've gone for a standard gasket from eurocarparts (reasonable quality one). Ross, have you used the knock link for the squirt? @bmwonly - what size exhaust are you running?

It's a guy from Canada at viatrack.ca who does a neat little box for signal conversion. Was wondering where to mount 2off sensors. On my high comp block i'd welded two studs to the side of the block but trying to avoid this time round. Think his name's Boris mohair or something.
