Yeah, the car still has to be mapped , I had an eager right foot when pushed by some guy on a gsxr 750 and this was the result. Was thinking it's worth having the head strengthened to take higher boost for when I go forged down below. Gunni have you done any builds where the head has been done? What sort of boost am I likely to run on stock pistons/crank/rods???

It's gonna get mapped soon as it's back together. I'll get the head done then fit the new fuel pressure regulator and have it trailered to the rollers.

What do you mean by head been done?
Many of my friends have had heads welded. Just as many have not and not had problems.

A standard head with standard cam will do you 500+ all day.
Depending on the turbo you use I´d reccond rods bend at 500lbs roughly, given petrol you´ll melt the pistons at roughly 500hp.

Crank will NOT fail under power or boost.

Nice figures ;-). I'm just thinking, it's worth doing the now as that's where it popped, the head is off and it's another means of future proofing.(one less niggle at the back of my mind).

Skimmed and ready to be rebuilt. Should get it back together tomorrow. Then it's a case of boxing back up and an oil change.

Yeah, got pics for updating at some point. Sorry for the long drawn out thread but I've spent the summer preparing for my final exams at uni..... soon I'll have a BEng (Hons) in Mechanical Electronic Systems Engineering. Can't wait to have it done and dusted, it's been a long slog.

Anyway, as it stands, the car is in my lockup waiting for the rebuilt diff to be refitted, just need lsd oil. It's had new bearings, seals blah blah but the most important thing is the reduction in gear ratio from standard to 3.15 in an attempt to better utilise the turbo torque.

I've also fitted the weber cossie fuel pressure regulator to the rail by b@5t4rdising a remote adaptor and turning a new "spool" piece. Pics to follow.

The rear beam is to be rebuilt with poly's, new cables/ flexis and hard brake pipes. I'm gonna be replacing my racing dynamics arbs with h&r items along with billie and eibach suspension. Watch this space.......

Some pics to detail some of the steps taken to rebuild my diff. Not all info is here cos I forgot to snap pics of setting the diff up.

Painted case and new bearings supplied for 25% less through thebearingcompany rather than our procurement company at work. Longer 3.09:1 gearset pinion in shot.

Like this..

Ain't got pics of the outer being nipped up but rotating torque (drag) set to 24nm if I recall correctly, got it dotted down somewhere.

Updated (deeper socket) capscrews torqued and studlocked, 3.09:1 ring gear fitted with torque and studlocked bolts.new brg fitted after a gentle heat (110deg)
Image

Carrier in. No pics of outers in the covers. Should mention, new friction plates and dog-ear rings too.
Image

Boxed up, backlash set to 0.07mm (by hand before measurement - not a bag guess). Also wear pattern near perfectly centered, again carried away and no pics, plus managed to get marking blue everywhere too.

Powerflex black bush and Mobil ls diff oil fitted.

More to come.........

Little update, not the most exciting but progress all the same. Diff Is back in, after some jiggling and new fuel lines fitted. Took the car for a blat behind the lockup and am very impressed with the improvement in gearing. Should be fun once the car makes it to Manchester for mapping. Currently looking for 1.5t beavertail for hire. Soon...........

Plans have changed again slightly. I've decided to completely rebuild the back axle and deal with any rust/rot along the way over the winter.

First installment of some new parts,

New rubberz for the trailing arms and beam mounts. Wilwood twin-pots to follow.

Bought these panels for £50. Any experience of hadrian panels pattern fitment?

Need a rub down due to some surface rust spots but in decent nick.
