E28 Battery drain

I’ve got a 518i converted to 528i, I have a 70mA drain across the battery which kills it after a couple of days parked up. Drain goes away when I remove fuse 5. It’s Not the stereo or glove box light but I have noticed I have a constant 5 volts at pin 7 on the diagnostic plug, is this normal?

Any help much appreciated

John

I know nothing about E28 electrics, so can't help a lot, but 70mA , although somewhat higher than I would expect for a quiescent current, shouldn't be high enough to cause problems after just a few days.
Are you sure the battery is good, and is being charged properly?
A quick google search to find out what fuse 5 is for, showed that you are not the first and only person with this problem! Boot light and door lock heater seem to be the next favourites after stereo and glove box light.
The drain from a boot light being on would be more like 850mA, which would have a noticeable effect on a healthy battery after a couple of days, so that suggests your fault may be intermittent, and not occurring when you tested.

Thanks Brian,

I've checked all the obvious boot light etc, i see from the wiring diagram that pin 7 on the diagnostic connector comes from the instrument cluster and always has 5volts, I'll do some more googling
