Wiper stopping position issues

Hello all 
I have fitted a new wiper motor as the orginal had burnt out, the wipers travel in the correct pattern in all 3 speeds but when i switch them off they sit in the middle of the screen im guessing this is an issue with the wiper relay ?
Please help as the car is at an mot centre currently and they are trying to convince me that I need a new motor and control stalk ?
