e28 520i convert to motronic?

Hi, just bought a e28 520i manual 1987 thats been stored in a garage since 2006 due to its previous elderly 2nd owners health problems. Its in excellent condition still on its trx wheels, but with the usual rotten rear bumper quarter on drivers side. I am going to use it as my daily driver until I have finished restoring my chromie 325i and will then give it a light restoration. I need to do a full service on it, new fluids, cambelt etc. I am wondering if it is worth while converting it to motronic as I believe the last 520i's were l-jetronic (?) I have access to a 91 e30 320i for spares. Also I have a 2.7 eta short block, would it be possible to build this up with the 520i head still on l-jetronic if motronic not an easy conversion, how would I rechip the ecu to suit the lager bottom end?
