Morning all, I need to change all the wheel bearings on my 318is but the fronts are fecked so these will be done this weekend.

I have just looked at them on eBay and they look like they are bolted in and not the press in ones I was expecting.

So does anyone have any experience on this?

Terry

the hub is bolted in with a large nut situated under the grease cap

you can knock the hub of but this often leaves the inner race of the bearing in situ, make a notch in the race with angle grinder or hack saw and use a hammer and chisel to remove.

this is what i remember form doing it a few year back , i myself followed a zone guide/guide from the internet - which had pictures and a better description than mine !

I would allow a good day for changing them on a drive.

Rears aren't too bad!
Fronts are easy unless the rear ball race gets stuck in place, which it normally does!

Follow the advice above.

Do yourself a favor and buy a decent quality bearing to replace the old one with. Cheap ones often fall apart before you get it fitted!

When fitting the new one be sure to find the right size socket to hit, so that you don't damage the new bearing.

Allow lots of space to work in. I did mine in a lock up garage with about a foot to spare, that was fun!
