Not many around but they do come up now and again, there was a good one up for sale on here about a year ago, cant remember if it sold or he kept it. He hasn't been on here in a year but may be worth a PM?

Out of interest why a 323i?

Don't get me wrong I wouldn't change mine but If I was looking for an early 2-door, it would be a 325i for me no question.

I get the sentiment, I really do! it is why many of us do this and are here, but reality does get in the way sometimes.

The 323i will be harder to find as not as many were made and fewer survived as they were often broken to keep 325's on the road.

Getting a 'barn find' back on the road can be a problem now. The L-Jetronic is an issue as there is a lot that can cause a headache and many (including me) have lost weeks chasing vacuum leaks. Added to which many bits are NLA and no used bits are any better. Most convert to the later Motronic off the 325 as it works better and more parts are available.

Some had dogleg gearboxes which are made of chocolate and normally replaced with a G260 (usually from a 325) same with the small case diff fitted to many. Added to which most engines tend to slap hard when cold.

Unless you find a good one, already running well I would stay away and get an early Chromie 325i :thumb:

As a guide, there were only around 4,000 323s sold in the UK whilst over 25,000 325s of all types were sold in the UK.

Good luck finding one.

There is a 325 chromie for sale in the latest BMW car club magazine. IIRC around £8k.
