Ok all i know i know its a VW!

But what i would like to know is how and if i can adjust my camber at home?... A garage changed some suspension components for an M.O.T and now the camber is out and when i do left hand turns the tyre squeels as if im doing 110MPH when im doing 12MPH

Any help will be appreciated as this will be my daily driver again very soon when i take my E30 off the road for a good going over a bit of welding some paint and a few goodies!

Hopefully i can sort it out myself so i dont have to take it to a garage to sort the problem and break something else!

Cheers , Andy

Are you sure it's the camber that is out? That isn't adjustable. For the camber to be out (assuming stock top mounts) that would suggest something is bent.

Are you sure you don't mean tracking?

Yes all stock parts it a GTI if that makes any difference?

I was told its camber by a friend and also when i look at the wheels it looks like they are different angles? maybe something is bent but wouldnt that come up on an M.O.T (assuming its a legit one?)

Would Tracking cause the issues i mentioned?... If so can i adjust that or would i just be better off by getting it done professionally?

Tracking could cause a wheel to drag. It would also handle horribly.

You can do the tracking yourself. Google string line tracking method. Last time I did it it was 0.05 degrees out total over both sides when I took it to get tracked the next day.

I would take it to get the tracking/alignment done properly. What parts were replaced?

Cant remember what parts where replaced as it was last year and lost the receipt!! it wasnt anything expensive so thinking control arms or something

Ill get the tracking done anyway as its only about £25 quid thereabouts

Dan whats this chassis notch you talk about?

OK

Looked this chassis notch thing up and find its when people drop the car and such they have to make a "Notch" to compensate?

My car is on standard suspension!

There is a fair bit of adjustment with the slop in the strut bolts. A tracking place that knows vw's will be able to sort this.

the notch is too allow the driveshaft to go higher without hitting the chassis leg

The bolts that hold the suspension strut to the hub assembly are slotted, VW have a special tool that attaches to the strut and the wheel rim if I remember rightly. If I were you I'd get a VW specialist to do the alignment.
