zafira dti starting advise

My sisters zafira is not starting or cranking. I checked the battery which is fine
I checked all the fuses last night in the dark. Removed a fuel pipe and no diesel was coming through, so I though maybe pump?
It just hit me this morning that I didnt check the starter motor duh!
Is it likely to pump fuel if the starter motor is dead? Would this explain the lack of fuel?
