Don't let Trev see you're looking at a Frenchy!

I worked with a guy back in the mid 80's had one of these in Gold. A manual '78. It did go quite well but then it was the lightened version. i.e. it was like a swiss cheese!
He changed it for a dark grey 20TX on the X IIRC. Have to admit, it was an incredibly comfortable car! Didn't drive like the 30 though. That whole 4 pot verses 6 pot thing again.
He was a deviant of the highest order. He also had a R4 which he put on it's roof in the snow over Boxhill and he bought a brand new Shitreon GS Club in 79. It was THAT VERY car that sealed my hatred for all things French. Replacing the cams on the boxer lump made me swear I'd never own or work on anything French again.

French cars of that era are just epic. The Renault 30 and 30 were so comfy and the 2 litre 30TS went well enough. The 30 looked good but the 20 wasn't ugly either. The GS is a bastard to work on - changing the clutch is a 1-2 day fuckfest involving engine removal that in turn involves removing the headlights and front panel. Still an an amazing bit of engineering though and they drive so well.

The 30 TX would have been a world beater if it had self levelling and they had quelled the wheelspin..........
