After looking for a while at E36, E39 and E46 tourings and finding that all within my budget were basically scrap I started looking at alternatives like Volvo and Saab and stumbled accros a 9-5 Aero HOT estate on ebay which looked like a good car. I was outbid but the winner was a no show, negotiated a deal outside ebay for £1150 and I would pay the tax as it was out.

2002 on a 02 plate, 1 Owner, 101K Miles, 12 Months MOT, 12 SAAB services, 17" wheels and continentals all round, AS3 Harmon Kardon Stereo (7 speakers, 2 Amps and sub all factory fit), Cruise Control, Leather, Xenons, Heated Seats, Parking sensors, switchable sports auto box etc etc. Best bit is 250bhp as standard and with a ligh foot 30+ MPG.

The downside was it was the other end of the UK. So after being let down by shiply, i thought bugger it, jumped on a flight from glasgow to gatwick, train out to canterbury, then drove it the 500 miles home.

I have to say its the comfiest fast estate I have ever driven and is surprisingly fast. And with 35mpg averaged at 85 mph on the way home not that bad on the petrol. Anyway a few pictures of the new family chariot that will be used and abused.

It's supposed to be just a stop gap for a while but I am so impressed with it i might just keep it until it dies. Accleration from 40mph+ is hilarous, torque steers a bit but i was showing up all sorts of cars yesterday on the run home.

Just goes to show, there really are some decent motors about for bugger all money. It's a shame the same can't be said for vans etc That kind of money would just but a sorry abused old knacker :(

Its huge in the boot so one of these could work as a van alternative especially with the seats down. I reckon you could get standard 8x4 sheets in at an angle.

Rob, you should have a go in one, I have driven a few T5's and t5R-s over the thears and this is even quicker.

The more I drive it the more i love it. The lesser powered 2.3T and 2.0T are dirt cheap, but make sure you get one which has either been ran on only fully synthetic oil or has had the sump dropped recently as they are prone to oiol starvation due to clogged oil strainers in the sump if ran on anything else.
