To be honest as hot hatches go it looks pretty good. Wouldn't buy one and no doubt it'll be £20K+ which is ridicoulous for a Kia.

yep the new pro cee'd is a cracking looking motor, should be getting one as my demo, its rumoured to have a 200bhp deisel and 250bhp petrol turbo

the price tag aint that bad when you see the level of equipment you get in the new cee'd even the base model has cruise control, blue tooth, ISG, parking sensors to name just a few, and to top it all off a 7 year warranty go and see what price vauxhall offer you for a new astra with an extended 7 year warranty!

The things is and this counts towards all hot hatches these days is the £20K to £35K price tag.

Fair enough a high spec and seven year warranty might help shift them, but almost all the other hot hatches in this price range offer pretty much the same package in terms of spec. If this was comming in at around the £15K mark they would most likely fly out the door.

But if your really in the market for a hothatch and this is even if its 2 to 3K cheaper than the equivalent Astra VXR, Meganne RS, Focus ST, Golf GTI, Toyota GT86, Scirrocco........ then I personaly would go for the more established brand.

Badgesnob? Possibly but they are just too expensive.

You only really need to look at the hyndai coupe as a good example over the years. They stole alot of coupe sales due to the good value for money, 5 year warrranty and a good looking car (aprat from the weird double headlight one). It undercut the competiton buy several thousands of pounds and as good or bad as the car was they sold well.

They are dull as ditchwater, but that's what folk want. Does it look alright? Is it reliable? Is it well specced? Is it reasonable money? Is the dealer good? That's a Yes. There are Kias everywhere up here and whilst Ze Germans aren't too worried, the likes of GM, Ford and the French must be shitting themselves - and the Japs too.
We laugh and joke about Kia, but they are without a doubt the fastest growing car manufacturer in the last 5-10 years. Basically, it's a rerun of how Japs arrived in the UK.

We used to get the C'eed 1.6 as hire cars from Budget for the drive up to Sellafield. Budget replaced their Civic fleet with the C'eed so I got a good back-back comparison of the two. The C'eed was the big surprise.

Civic was without a doubt the better built and more comfortable, more of a quality product. But on the lake district roads, the ride was too harsh, particularly on rough single track fell roads, and gear ratios were too long. So big and heavy the brakes would quickly cook. The C'eed on the other hand - great exhaust note, superb brakes and good steering feel. So much more fun to hustle across the lake district than the civic and inspired more confidence. I liked them :)

Come on guys lets face it, the new breed of Kia’s are not bad looking cars, they are reliable well-built, well equipped and come with a 7 year warranty. There is nothing not to like unless you have a problem with Koreans or are a self-confessed badge snob

Wouldn't have a kia given! Look at the 2nd hand value then you'd buy a a3\sirocco, kia 20k new 2year later more like 3k, but oow as for fat birds if its warm and wet, only have standards with cars!

Incorrect my friend, Kia admittedly used to have some of the worst resale values, they are now among the best when it comes to resale value, and this has come about since the roll out of the 7 year warranty across the whole range.

The warranty stays with the car you see no matter how many owners it has, you tell me another car you can sell at 5 years old still with 2 years manufactures warranty left on it.

Another way to look at it is you can buy a 5 year old kia with as much warranty as a brand new Peugeot.

Kia are that confident about their product that if you buy a Kia approved used car which can be up to 2 years old with a max of 20k they will give you a fresh 7 year warranty!

Do you work for kia?

That's great then if the warrent transfers, you get a 500 car with a warrenty, go on auto trader etc put 1000 under and you get 06 plate kias etc come up with 12 year old bmws etc, I'm probly just a badge snob but personally I look for cars I like not cars with the most warrenty, fact is 90% of people will still think its shit because it has a kia badge on, as said above it will take years to get a badge name, I still wouldn't buy a skoda when a tiny bit more gets a vw\audi

Yes i work for a main dealer that not only sells Kia but also Ford, Nissan and Mazda. off topic but have you heard that the new Ford Mustang is now being sold in the UK, can't wait really want one as a demo for a short time
diable wrote:Whats the value of a 7 year old Kia with no warranty and £100k on the clock?
the closest thing we have like that is a 2007 Sportage (old shape) with 70k and no warranty, the 7 year warranty came in to effect in late 2009 and thats up for £6999 and it will sell at that price as well.

As far as the sportage goes we simply can't get enough of them in people are willing to leave deposits on cars that arn't even with us yet

You really have taken the corporate injection!

Would you honestly buy a Kia with your own money?

If i wanted a new/nearly new well equipped car with great reliability, cheap running costs, great MPG and a good dealer/warranty back up then yes I would

However i am a petrol head and as yet Kia have not produced a sporty car other than the Kia Elan so no i personally wouldn't, that could change though depending how good the new turbo cee'd & rio are

Don't even know what type of Kia that is but as you can see it held up well in what looks like quite a bad rear end shunt where something actually hit the back and drove over it winkeye
