Interested to see what you guys think. This can include modified variants of course, and post videos if you like.
My favourite sounding engine has to be the chevy big block in normally aspirated form but with plenty of tuning. It sounds fantastic from idle to high rpms.
Ok so the v16 brm racer tops that but its a bit too left field.

2.2 pinto as built by millington running through an ashey competitions exhaust on a Darrien I saw hurtling around Knockhill a few years back at heroic speeds.
Epic sound especially on overrun.
This gives a bit of flavour (albeit not in a Darrien):

I love your job too (and I don't even have to do the work)
Those engines sound great, visceral but not nasty and balanced too.

Nothing better than Nitromethane, unfortunately video camera's normally can't cope with the volume up close enough to do it justice, its more of a noise you experience rather than just hear
i love the interiors of tvrs, you know its bonkers without having to even start it.

Classic Ferrari V12.
If you haven't seen this video before, it was made by a playboy-filmmaker called Claude Lelouch. The title translates as 'It was a rendez-vous' or 'It was a date'. The camera car was allegedly a Merc 450SEL 6.9 but the soundtrack is clearly a manual car and as Lelouch owned a 275GTB at the time, it's thought he either did the same run in the Ferrari and overdubbed the sound or the camera was just mounted on the Ferrari. He never admitted to it at the time though as the law were on his back.
It's a single shot from a camera mounted low on the front of the car, about 8 mins in duration. It's just him ripping it through the centre of Paris at about 5am one morning and it's absolutely awesome!

Big block v8 is good but for me the but for me the best sound is produced by a knackered rover v8, just sounds sublime!

Thats got to be one of the best car vids Ive ever seen. Big lazy v12 cat looked awesome and sounded unbelievable!! Not sure about flat b0ll0ck nacker on two wheels though!
A friend of my dad had a TWR XJS in about 1984, we just thought it was a jag with a bodykit at the time.

a screaming BDA in a welsh forest, makes the hours of standing out in the pissing rain just for a 1970's ford escort to come past all worth it

My 225 Johnson outboard sounds fantastic out of the water. 6 cylinder 3.0litre two stroke, exhuast straight to the prop...porn!
But nothing beat the bahrain F1 GP of 2010, i was in a tent with williams FW18 and FW08, Lotus 72 and 79, Ford DFV powered beasts like a Matra MS80, ferarri 1512, 375 and 125, and the striaght 10 of the Merc W196. We were offered ear plugs but no way i was missing that noise.

hmmm tought choice....but i'd go for a simple 1600 x-flow ford engine running some nice throaty twin 48 webbers on ashley exhaust system...
orrr a noise i am fortunate to listen to rather often..
big block chevy v8 race engines, my uncle is a well known big block v8 engine builder in the drag racing scene, and im lucky enough to crew in the pits for him and my aunt who races her Chevy S-10 pickup in the supermodified class....this weekend at the mopar nationals including testing we managed to crack the personal bests with a 7.36sec 1/4mile @ 185mph....not bad for a woman driver! this is the video i got on the startline...music to my ears!
