We had one from new - the only brand new car my old man has ever bought.

Utter sh1t.

The front 8" or so of the wings are a box section which BL neglected to put any sort of wax in whatsoever at the factory - so in less than a year the wings were rotting from the inside out - one of my memories as a kid is of my Dad repeatedly repairing the wings with filler and rattle cans - on a car only a couple of years old :banghead:

There was also an issue with the crankcase breather system which caused it to leak oil from pretty much the day we picked it up.

One of the times it went back for the oil leak to be investigated the BL garage gave us an Allegro as a courtesy car - which broke down

Its only redeeming feature was that it was very comfy. But that wasnt enough to offset all the other wrongness

I'd say the original purchasers wife couldn't believe he'd bought such a pile of shit to replace her existing car!

I'm surprised he didn't wake up to find his c0ck cut off and rammed down his throat!

God they are a hideous pile of shite!!!!

Nice example though if you like looking like a kiddy fiddler!

My dad had one of these which he accidentally left running with the key in and door open in Tilbury for 45 minutes when he went to get something. Came back and it was still there - an open invitation for anyone to steal but they obviously had better sense.

I had it after him after my mini died, it had languished unloved in a shed for around a year but went through the MOT just needing new wipers, one tyre being swapped for the spare and an anti roll bar bending back into shape. (took it back 90 minutes after it failed)

Didn't have the rust problems on the front wings but maybe this was because it was the more desirable 1.7 SLX. A truly dreadful car, dreadful at speed - I had to fight it to keep it in a straight line when 5 up at 60mph on the motorway. Turned out I had a puncture but expectations of it were so low that it was only when the tyre finally blew out in roadworks on the M40 that we realised it wasn't actually designed to drive that badly.

Got £90 for it in the end - a little less than this guy's after.
