Motronic Upgrades

Hi All,
This brilliant website has a section covering conversion of Motronic 1.1 engine management systems to Motronic 1.3 - see http://www.e30zone.net/e30zonewiki/inde ... tronic_1.3
How difficult would it be to upgrade a Motronic 3.1 system (in my E30 320is) to Motronic 1.7, as in a 318is ?
