Help, about to buy m60b40 80% complete car, need info please

As per title, i'm about to possibly buy an m60b40 engined e30, was running earlier in the year, did BDC qualifying at lydden hill and went like stink, white fibreglass m3 body, black door, and it was running very well indeed.

Now off the road for winter to have bits done.

List to complete:

Tidy bodywork
Fit prop
Fit diff
Relocate oil filter housing some how
Sort brake servo set up (phil noobs, please help!)
Top of the slam panel has been cut to make way for large radiator, bit messy here so thought fabricate an inch by inch box section, bolt in for the headlights, grilles, top of rad set up? (i can weld and cut shi7, no biggy lol)

Now these m60b40 engines, the performance seems to stack up with the m62b44 so which is better to use.

This one i'm looking at is M60b40, are there any inherant problems to watch out for like nikasil bores etc like other engines of that era?

Help most appreciated in advance.

Tom

So are the m60b40's weak then, block wise?

This ispredominatly going to be a track/drift car so reliability would be nice.

Any views from anywhere appreciated cos i've only got this week to decide.

Sounds like a good choice to me. I my self wanted to do a project involving m60 until my dad agreed to let me his 535 m30 for a good price so I'm in that now. But what I read before was only a good stuff about them engines. Hope it'll help to decide winkeye

Didnt realize this was being sold, good car.

Do you have the prop?

Oil filter housing relocate is very easy, as it is already relocated!
The connections to and from the filter housing can be used by a hose company and some new braided lines installed to the fittings. Its a good idea, cheap and easy, it makes a much cleaner engine bay and also routes that top radiator pipe so much better.

The M60 is a great motor, if the nikasil issue hasnt reared its head now I wouldnt sweat about it.

I have given my engine death every single time its driven, both drift/track and the 200 mile trips to events. Given i give it often oil changes (with cheap oil, run so much better with cheaper oil), you wont/shouldnt have any realiabilty issues with that engine

the car is fully running, i just took it off the road for winter (although has t&t) to get the car setup properly and have new bits fitted along with sorting little niggles out - car owes me a shit load of money but deep down my heart lies with jap stuff i guess :(

that being said its not advertised for sale as it isnt for sale but who knows where this will go :D

as mentioned the prop has been strengthend simply because the new rear beam is fully adjustable and with the best setup of say -1 rear camber i wanted a stronger prop, took it to my fabricator and its waiting for me to collect and balance.

the rear beam has akg bushes and super pro T/A bushes...
