I've just bought an M62 for a long term disaster project/money pit. The engine is coming from a 150k auto 540 with good history. I'll be after a manual box though.
I've spent all weekend doing my research - Kerrie's, DeeDee's and Will's thread has been rather useful, now I know that making the front removable like an E36 is the answer.
My intention is to run the engine on standalone management, MBE being a possible choice, from the beginning with the view to adding bike throttle bodies of some description somewhere down the line.
I'm going to get the exhaust manifolds in the hope they can be made to fit and a section of exhaust, the engine loom and ECU incase they're of any use down the line.
Is there anything else I can get from the car that might help?
Oh and I assume the S62 6 speed box would fit providing the price was ridiculous?
M62 install, what can I scavenge from an E39 donor?

M60 / M62 / S62 have the same 6-speed gearbox. The only difference betwewn 540 and M5 is the first gear ratio, which is a bit longer in M5.
I'd save all the small bits and bolts, you never know when you need them. While you're cutting the front end away, fitting the E39 radiator could be also feasible?
