S50B32 engine cutting out...

i've tried starting the engine now that all is in place and it keeps cutting out after say max 2 seconds. Got a print out off the diagnostics....

Image

the one of concern is the
42 EWS signal faulty

I bought this engine off UweM3 off the zone and he had the EWS deleted so i'm confused. I could try the ECU in a different car but nobody I know has an Evo. So ideally I need somebody local to me (doubt it!!!) in bradford with an evo or z3m for me to try out my ECU unless someone knows whats going on here and can give me a solution.

Many Thanks

Sounds like EWS to me, as that's the exact symptoms you usually get with EWS not working etc.

that's what I said to Uwe but he said that there is no EWS on the ecu and that he definitely had it deleted. A man of his knowledge I wouldn't normally question but this situations got me snookered. Do we know anyone who can delete the phantom EWS for me???

I tried my ecu in an evo today and it's making that engine cut out also. This suggests the problem is the ecu. The funny thing is the chap (wayne schofield) that deleted the ews apparently is the best at his game. I'm baffled!!!

Well as I was the seller I am trying hard to solve this. There are a few points which won't help in this case.
- I never had the engine running with this ECU
- the sale is over two years ago, there is a lot which could have happened.

Just to make this clear, I have FULL faith in maynee007, I don't believe he has done anything wrong.

But I do not know who has had his hands on the ECU in that time or who and how it was wired up. Wouldn't be the the first time that some people get a few wires the wron way round and fry the ECU (you know who you are :-)

If anybody has a ECU for sale, please get in touch. Or I will pay for an EWS delete if somebody is so kind and let maynee007 use the ECU to verify that his one is toast and his engine is starting up with another ECU

This is now sorted. Seems even a wizard doesn't know everything about S50 EWS delete.
