I have just been tasked by a friend to convert his 318i to an s50b32, now i've already done an m52b28 on my own cabby and just wanted to ask are there any mjor differences between the 2 conversions? Same rads, fans, better engine mounts? temp sensors etc

Any info greatly appreciated

E36 m3 rad, The A/C fan from a E36 m3 can be made to fit using e30 m3 fan brackets and a bit of fiddling. Or any other fan that fits in the hole.

You can use the M52 type aircon spec rad, perfectly capable for road use, ive used one before and its fine, I would only use it with an oil cooler though.
If its going to get hammered round a race track I would use nothing less than the S50 rad

Stick an s50 one in there, they can be had for about £50.

Whats the differene mate? Bigger core? Does it still need to be an aircon model rad with the "cutout" in the bottom corner?

The core is about the same IIRC, just the S50 rad is about 3 inches wider, this means you need a separate expansion tank so if you want a proper airbox you have to mount it on the battery tray and pipe it all up.
E36 Aircon spec rad has the tank on the side so you can fit an airbox next to it without problems.
Cone filters FTL :)

Has to be an S50 rad imo.
