Hi!
I'm looking for pictures of E30 with S50 and carbon airbox, and what brake booster it is combined with will be a bonus!
Considering CF box in my M3, but I wonder how it will go with the ABS unit and the S14 MAF bracket.
Thanks!
Bjorn

power gains can be had, some one i know just fitted one to his ZM coupe and its making 342bhp, i laughed and dont believe it. its a stock car with 100cell cats and mapped.
to make 340+bhp on an s50 you need cams.
the best think about them is the noise
there are cheap ones on e bay, made from fibeglass with carbon on the outside. if you do get one make sure it has trumpets

You don't need cams to make 340bhp on an S50 from what I've seen.
With cams alone and a good map or standalone, you'd be wanting 360-370.
I have seen 3.2s with open throttle bodies or CF airbox on standard engine otherwise with clever maps with 340+ but they wouldn't have any cats etc, thats for sure!
Finny has one for his S54, Feens. I'll probably get one too I reckon once I have my engine in and nearly running.

to make over 340 you will need cams, and i agree with cams you can get 350bhp or more. anything else is exaggerated
with out cams, carbon air box, de cat'd and good exhaust and proper map you'll get 330 on 99 octane, maybe 335bhp on a good day.
truth be it 315bhp is about right on a good standard S50B32, no way will a carbon box and 100 cell cats with a map give you more than 30bhp.
if anything its the before and after figures that count, the gains had and how it develops the power.

Don't know... we've a good b32 in a Compact on open throttles and it feels pretty lively

Must get it on the Dyno dynamics RR some day in college.
Have helped map a b32 single vanos on standalone with only shrick cams at 367 before.
Agree on its the before and after figures that are important though as different dynos and engines can be very different too to be fair.

That is a Norwegian car, I know the owner
That box is hand made by the prev owner of the engine, I have had an offer to buy it though!

Have you got your car road legal now?

Not yet, too early to take her out of the garage anyway. Working on some rust on the floor as well.
The Government is going to have a meeting in Oslo the end of this week, so during next week I will get a final answer if there will be possible to get it legal or not.
I have now got a written confirmation Hartge that there was no reinforcement on the chassis, there is also a confirmation from Alpina on that. So I hope there will be a limit on 330hp/355nm in the E30 chassis. Fingers crossed.

Yeah, that's an awesome car! Owner is well able to dive it too
Didn't know there was such tight restrictions in Norway! I was under the impression, it's all fair game and go for as much power as you like

Restrictions yes....well, you can always build 1000hp and just don't tell anyone. But in my case I got a letter that they wanted to view my car, on the order from the Police.

so you haven't managed to get it road legal as it is now, you are in the radar of the authorities already and you are looking to fit a carbon airbox to add more power??
I just can't follow you thinking process, sorry.

That I fully understand, since you don't live here and know how it is
I'll try to explain. When I'm done with the car now it will have changed some bits to get it into the "spec" the authorities demands. Which is getting rid of the K-Sport's and put on TÃaV approved KW Coilovers, fit the E36M3 3.2l brakes and probably some 17" rims to save weight. The total front axle weight, rear axle and total weight can not exceed the weight that is given to the car from BMW.
The I will have the car in a descent "hight" and get a wheel angle sheet to prove that the angles are ok. I will also modify the resonator so it's not hanging so low and weld in a plate with hole drilled into it to quiet the exhaust.
And if everything goes like it should the car will have written in the vehicle card that it is approved with E36M3 3.2l engine, 3.2l brakes and KW Coilovers.
I will then go home, pull out the plate in the exhaust, lower the car, put OZ Mito back on and roll with style!!! Point here is that if I get pulled over some other time, they will see that the car is approved with the engine and then it is ok to them. If I have a CF intake, they will not know the difference anyway. So the car is not illegal in the same matter as before you know.
