Hello All.

I'm new to the site,I love my BMW's and currently have an e36 m3 gt2 with a few extra bits and pieces.

Basically, a mate and I are looking into doing an s50b32 e30 coupe, a full on track car preferbably (caged, bbk's, coilies etc)

Just wondering if anyone has a list of parts required for the conversion and what shell would be a good starter? Ideally we want the shell cheapish to give us extra spending money for goodies so dont want to pay extra for a 325i sport shell when its the same thing as a 316i or something silly, neither of us are very clued up on e30's but both have e36 m3's.

Thanks in advance.

Dan

hi Dan
if your willing to do the work to upgrade the brakes and suspension you could really start off with any shell you wanted all the shells are the same. the only difference is the 325i, 318is and all tourings have rear disc brakes and the bigger suspension as standard but all this could be bolted onto a 316i shell if you wanted.
as for parts required to do the engine change have a look in the engine swaps / forced induction area of the site as this has been covered a few times I'm sure.

Id go looking for the most rust free 2 door non sunroof shell you can find. Everything after that is bolt on, and if your building a trackslag, you'll be upgrading everything anyway.

Cheers for the info lads.
I would obviously like as clean example as possible, just so happens that the guy im doing it with owns his own reputable bodyshop which is handy!! Less welding the better though.

Would you recommend finding an e36 m3 evo as a donor car or buying the parts bit-by-bit?

if both of yous have an e36 id buy a donor as whatever you's dont use for the E30 you can either use as spares for your own cars or sell on. also lets you hear the engine running and see how it gos.

Say that a S50B32 is bolt on in a E30 is bullshit.
