S50B30 Water Temp Sensor which cable??? 1 with blue or gray

Hi,
I recently changed the water temp sensor on my engine and when I disconnected both cable connections to the sensors (brown and blue ones) I noticed the connection with the blue mark on the inside was plugged into the brown sensor and the gray white (ish) one was plugged into the blue sensor.
Is this correct? Doesn't seem like it.
Also, I checked the spark plugs tonight and the 4,5 & 6 plugs where normal looking and 1,2 & 3 where dry carbon fouled, the car is overfueling badly at moment and doing my head in to say the least. Any suggestions?
