E30 Zone

Hi All, i've got an 1990 E30 318i M40 for a few month now.

Need some help there are a few things i would like to do.

So i need some advice coz i don't have alot of cash available to do insane engine swops and insane mods.

Welcome to the Zone.

There is nothing you can do on these old engines except service them.

This does not mean they are bad engine by any means. BMW just didn't leave much left on the table.

My M40 powered E30 gained significant power and about 5mpg just by giving it a bit of TLC:

Spark plugs. Air filter. Check fuel pressure regulator. Have Injectors cleaned. New fuel filter. Check fuel pump. New ignition leads if old ones are cracked. Check for vacuum leaks. Check coolant hoses look good. Do timing belt if not do so already, etc.

Don't forget the obvious things too: Oil change. Gearbox and diff oil. Coolant flush. New tyres? Wash and clean car - remove unnecessary junk?

lol thanx man..so best thing to do then is to save up.and do a engine swop.

But for now i should just do the usual. MAintenance
