sick of the m40 is there anyway to get cheap power or do i need to just swap the motor??

Swapping the M40 for an M42 is the cheapest way to a reliable increase in BHP.
You will need the engine, the ECU and an exhaust. I'd look at the brakes as well.

Stroker engine turning it into a 2.0?
There's honestly not much you can do as regards to tuning an N/A M40 engine. Possibly a "chip" and you might see 10hp. A good service is always a start too.
Probably not what you wanted to hear but realistically, you either swap in another engine or just enjoy it for what it is.
