M40B16 swap

hi all i have my e30 coupe with M40B16 and i'm thinking to swap it to the 1.8is. what should i do or buy before starting ?
Swapping to the 318iS M42 engine is a good call for an M40 engined car if you don't want to go for a 6cyl. It's also a fairly easy swap and for the most part, pretty much a bolt in job.
