Thinking about putting Fritz's Stainless Exhaust system on my E30 318is anyone have any feedback good or bad?? 12-15 Hp gain seems a little optimistic. What is the quality like? Don't mind spending money, just want to spend it right first time.

I am not aware that changes to the standard exhaust set up will bring any significant power gains.

Taken from the Fritz website "only of value to high-compression M42 versions producing 170 bhp".

BMW spend £££££ on developing & building these cars, their systems are normally enough, personally I wouldn't bother.

I've got one on my car. It's not a bad option if you need a new exhaust, but I wouldn't bother if you were just looking for more power.

For what its worth its a stainless system MIG welded with mild wire.

Thanks for the response, mwgriffiths, just what I needed someone who has got one!!

My front pipe (original) is getting a little beyond it's sell buy.... I never thought for a moment that the quoted power increase would exist,my main concern is that the quality is good enough for the money.
One other thing, how noisy is it compared to a standard system??

Mine had a fight with the metal stop for an electric gate which peeled the leading edge of the second centre box back by an inch. I'd have expected it to split open like a tin can, but it was fine! Doesn't blow or anything! It'll certainly take some abuse!

Mine replaced a powerflow(?) centre section and standard backbox, it was probably a bit louder, but its not anti-socially loud. I've done nearly 20k with the system on and at no point have I thought it was too loud! Certainly no louder than my mates 325i with all the baffles rotten out.

One thing to note is you have to be careful bolting it together, as the clearance to the rear subframe is tight (I think the pipe is a bigger diameter, which is probably what causes that). If you're not careful you can get the exhaust fouling on the heat shields above the centre boxes or on the subframe or both, but with a bit of care and jiggling it fits fine and doesn't rub anywhere.
