daily driver wanted to balance perfomance and economy

hi guys i'm thinking of buying a 318is as a daily driver how good are these on fuel if mantained well ? i do a mixed kind of driving eg motorways some times town driving , will it be a good car or is there any other bmw i can buy for the 318is kind of budget ? thanks

If you want to balance performance and economy get a 320. Crap performance and crap economy, can't get more balanced than that

The combination Cloggy wrote works. In a mysterious way, but it does.
A 318is well maintained is a very nice daily driver. I have been to the m50 route, but it's way too fast and thirsty for someone with a heavy foot. I am getting an m42 again, i believe...

no, but i still prefer my e39 as daily, i preferred my e36 as a daily and i preferred my e46 as a daily
as for character i have my e24 in the garage, for fun my M52's compact and one day my e30 M3 will be back together and complete

I wish i had a new car as a daily, shame i would have to pay for it though.
