E30 Zone

I'm looking for some help choosing a turbo for my M42. I'll be trying to keep the price down so a brand new turbo is out of the question. I'll be using the ebay M50 turbo manifold off ebay with 2 cylinders lobbed off - http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... 0212235098

I'll also be using Megasquirt. I think to make the most of any conversion of this type then some decent management is essential.

So onto turbos. I've seen a few guys use Saab and Volvo turbos. I've also seen a car with a turbo from a Mitsi Starion. Plus a guy in Cali using a brand new Garrett GT2871R, but I'm not sure what applications they are used in.

Personally I had also wondered about a turbo from a VW 1.8t engine, but I think it would be a bit limiting.

I'm looking for some suggestions for a used turbo that I could find fairly easily, that won't break the bank and that will be appropriate for this application.

My hopes are for 250bhp without modifying the engine apart from the management.

GT22 turbo would suit you nicely or something like a holset HX30 for a little more breathing space.

I've been looking at GT25's and GT28's from SR20DET's and the like.

Can you tell me more about the Holset?

they have a T3 flange, so that may be easier for you to use then making or getting a T25 flange.
