I have oil leaking out of the chain tensioner on my M42. I have replaced the crush washer but there is still a bit of oil dripping out. Is this normal ?
Cheers

I'm fairly sure that BMW never designed an engine that was supposed to leak oil, although they came close with the M20!
I'd be checking for a crack in the threaded boss that the tensioner screws into, although I've never heard of this happening.

Yes I just found this last night. I think The previous owner didn't put a crush washer in and over tightened the chain tensioner in an attempt to stop the leak... There's a crack where you mentioned ! I'm going to try and use some Belzona molecular metal on it, see how that works.
