Flywheel ring gear swap?

So I have an m20 flywheel all ready to go shaved down and balanced, and I also have the m52 flywheel that I have removed from the m52 engine and a brand new starter motor to fit the m52 flywheel that came with the engine when i baught it. My question is can the m52 ring gear be put on the m20 flywheel and make use of the new starter motor? I have swapped ring gears in the past on other stuff so not a issue to swap it over. They look the same size but it's not somthing you can just eyeball and say yes it will fit
