Prop question

Currently doing an m52 swap and having a complete nightmare with the prop. I've got the g220 out of a 325i e36 bolted up. I ordered a e36 prop and it's waaaayyyyy too short. By about 4 inches. What prop do I need. Ive seen e30 rear e36 front. But how do they line up as the splines are on different sides?
Many Thanks

You cannot combine an E30 and E36 prop for the reason you state, if you have a getrag E36 box then you can use the prop from the same car, im sure I have used early E36 320i and 325i (M50 non vanos) props with these box's before.
The other option worth investigating is an E30 325i prop

Cheers for the response mate! The front half of the prop lines up its the rear that's off. Do you know what your working rear half length is? Cars been an absolute nightmare at the moment. I could throw in the towel with it. Engine wont run at all idles and cuts out. Then prop didn't fit. Doing my head in 😂😂

I can sympathise, I'm trying to work out a combination to fit an M54B30 and matching 6-speed box. I have resigned myself to just using what I have and getting it shortened and balanced professionally.

What would that cost mate out of curiosity and do you have a company that will do it? Thinking this might be an option

It's not horrifically expensive James. I had a quote for one to be done and it was about £150 from Dave Mac Propshafts in coventry. Might save a lot of time and arsing around to go that route.

Think that's going to be an easier route. Might try and source an e30 prop and try that. Didn't realise it was you rich! Never really used the zone. Got to try and learn everyone's names again 😂😂

Get new UJ's fitted while its there, will be closer to £300 but will be as good as a brand new prop

Very sound advise, and not that costly when you look at what is being done 8)
