E32 735i Brake Servo Compatibility?

Morning all,

My E30 has had the e32 735i brake master cylinder conversion and now that I'm going to be putting an m54 in it I'm wondering if this will work or clash with the engine? The servo is a smaller diameter than the original E30 one however it is a fair bit thicker so projects further out into the engine bay.

Or, if not, has anyone got a photo of this area of the engine bay showing clearance to the servo as it may be possible to judge whether there's a chance it will fit.

I think I'll probably have to change to a Clio servo and 750i m/c, but if I can get away without then I'd rather not.

Cheers

From what I have seen the E32 servo will foul if you are using the full DISA inlet manifold with the M54. It is too long and not narrow enough. The M54 does however seem to give you a bit more clearance near the bulkhead for a single diaphragm servo compared to the M52 etc

I was looking at an E90 servo or even the e46 but have not had the chance to lay hands on one or get some accurate measurements to see if it is smaller than the E32 There must be a modern alternative by now

Ok thanks. I thought it might be too long. I have a whole E46 that I'm taking the engine from so I'll try the servo from that.

When are you looking at doing this? I'm looking at doing the same but its a way down my list of jobs at the moment . I do have a 330i sitting here to play with though. I've just been collecting parts and sorting it out in my head.

Is the 330 running? One thing I was advised is get things like the EWS sorted while it is in the donor then at least you know thats good before the move.

Reasonably soon, the donor car is sitting in a friend's garage and they won't want it there for ages. I still need to get quite a few parts for it though.

Sorting the EWS out is the first thing on my list prior to ripping anything out of the donor.
