M50tu & m52 block differences

Hi
Apart from the obviouse material change iron / aluminium
Do the blocks differ in any other way like sensor holes, deck height
Reasons im asking is iv got a cheap m52b28 in poor condition and i think worn cylinders. It had overheated aswell so expect head bolt threads to strip on removal.
But I'd replace it with an iron m50b25tu block if its a direct replacement not bothered about the weight and would prefer a more heavy duty block anyway. Dont want to just get a complete m50b25tu as i have m52 loom already converted to e30.
Cheers

Never done it or looked into myself, but I'm fairly sure this is what the turbo brigade do by preference, to turbo a M52.

its a m50 bottom mainly and head is m52, thats about it. if you want to 2.8 it then you need check the oil splash setups as they are not the same. M50 is on the sump and M52 is on the block.

that should help you out.

Yeah cheers. I'll be using e34 sump with windage tray removed anyway so ill be using the 2.8 tray if it will fit. Just main concern is the loom. Does it have the same connectors i don't have the m50 loom but do have m52 and paid to have the plug converted to c101. Would rather not have to get another m50 loom and convert that also.

Yes they are pretty much the same, no issues with sensor mountings
