Hi, I am looking to use the M42 gearbox with the M52 engine in the engine swap guide it details that a 320i linkage should be used.

I would like to understand what are the differences in length between the M42 gear selector linkage and the 320 linkage?

Will the M42 gear linkage not work?

6 cylinder engine places the gearbox in a different position compared to a 4 cylinder. The gearbox mounting crossmember attaches to channels on the underside of the car, where the captive bolts can be slid along to suit.
You will find that the crossmember ends up in a different place when the M52 is fitted, which is why the M20B20 linkage is needed.

Thank you for the information, does anyone have this linkage that I can purchase?
