Hi I'm doing a m52 conversion and will be using either a m40 or 42 gearbox.
Am I right in thinking I will need a m20 2.5 clutch?
If so what's the recommended make/model, approximate price and would be grateful for the part number if anyone has it.
Cheers
Matt

Ideally need m20 flywheel machined down with Sachs m20 clutch and m20 starter

Yep Sachs is worth the extra over any other standard clutch, get the flywheel down to about 5.5kg and your engine will rev like a scalded cat in comparison to the standard M52 clutch setup

Or if you can get hold of a 323i m20 flywheel it will bolt straight on

Thanks guys, does anyone have the part number for the sachs clutch and where is the best place to order from?
I already have a lightened m20 flywheel courtesy of Byron (maggspower) from the zone.

I used euro and they always sent a sach clutch
Not sure if it still works but extra5 gets you 5% discount
Iv upgraded to e36 m3 but the 325 is fine for road use

Euro car parts have same part number for the Sachs and luk clutch so you need them to put a note to supply Sachs only

Exactly the same part, picked off the same shelf, by the same people, is £102.60 from CP4L, using discount code CP15LESS.
Again, be sure to specify Sachs only.

How does the luk compare with the Sachs, will it not last as long?
Thanks

Personally i'd avoid LUK. I had an LUK clutch in my m50 with an m40 'box and it began slipping in 5th on the dual carriageway after a few months. Sachs would always get my money over LUK.

Had an LUK in my Audi S4 holding 500ft lb torque and that's a standard Audi part most paddle clutches arn't rated to that !
I used to sell LUK every day never had a problem with one

Was it an LUK clutch designed for a 170hp M20 engine in your Audi?
