Reverse switch, where does the wire go?

Can someone tell me where the wire from the reverse switch on a ZF gearbox connects to the harness? (m52 swap with gearbox) I can see the wire connected to the switch but it goes up over the gearbox so I cant see where ends. My problem is that the wire does not show up in at the gear stick inside the car, so I have no idea where the wire is connected, if it's connected at all.
Should I just cut the wire and make a new one that leads into the car where I need it?

On the E36, the reverse light wiring is part of the engine loom - this is what you can see going from the switch and then up over the gearbox.
This is unused when fitting the M52 into an E30 so you connect the switch on the ZF gearbox to the white plug by the gear lever (in the pic in your other thread).
You will need to add the wire from the switch to the white plug.
The E36 reverse wiring can be removed from the engine loom, or usually ends up zip tied somewhere out of the way.

Thanks a bunch guys, I highly appreciate your info an patience with me
I will add a wire between the switch and the white plug at my gear stick, and not worry about the wire thats already coming from the switch.
