M52 - M50 manifold air temp sensor.

Has anyone had to change the air temp sensor in there m50 manifold to suit there m52 ecu?
My ecu was reading 190 degrees air intake temp. Assuming a faulty switch I ordered a new one for a M52 although they are completly different. M52 seems to be a push fit sensor with some kind of element and the M50 one is a screw in that is completely solid.
Also locations. Realoem shows the m52 sensor on the underside of the manifold and on my m50 the sensor is just to the rear of the TB
Beginning to thing the m50 sensor was fine just not compatable with the ecu.
Anyone ran into this issue.

When I did my m50 inlet manifold swap I remember testing the sensors as no one had mentioned anything about them. If I remember correctly the m50 air temp sensor was slow to react and may have given a different reading at the same temp. The m52 sensor was very quick to change resistance with temperature changes. I used the m52 sensor to avoid this potential issue.
I think I posted about it on the inlet manifold thread. ...

How did u fit the m52 sensor into the m50 hole. They are totally different

That's the 2 sensors I have in my possession. The top one being the m52 one that BMW gave me and the bottom one is what's fitted into my m50 mani.

Use M52 sensor, drill hole in the rubber intake boot, and push sensor into it. OR if want to be anal order another intake boot with 2 hole already in, think they are on the M3.

I can't remember now. But it couldn't have been difficult or I definitely would have remembered.

What fits in the other hole as I have forgotten? Thanks
