My boss has got a e39 that has run out of tax and MOT i offered him scrap value for it and he seams interested as he wants some cash quick be for he goes on his hols.

Anyway if i bought it and broke it would the M52 be anygood for someone to put into an e30? i know the lump will go in but will the other bits like EWS still work?

My plan would be sell the engine, wheels, few other bits and bobs and then weight the rest in.

Any advice on how well they break or if the M52 will be any good for a conversion would be great.

Hi

I believe the m52 will be good for transplant but it will need an e34 sump, dipstick and pickup.

Ews and ecu should be fine too -along with key transponder

My mates just broke an e39 528.... it had all the goodies - rear blind, door blinds, car telephone, mtech wheel, leather interior...... it all sold pretty quick to be fair

Later E39's with the m52 have a different engine wiring loom and different engine harness plug, i know as i have to wire one thats been transplanted into an E30 soon. I doubt the usual wiring spread sheet for a E36 m52 will be of much use, but im sure it is do able.

The lengths of wires are useless if you want a tidy bay, using an E36 loom is the best way to go really.
You will also need E36 engine mount arms, the alternator and PAS pump are usually different too

A mate is breaking a 5 series this weekend ,does anything else fit .
Is the exhaust manifold(tubular steel) any good to modify?
Is the prop any good?
It's a manual so is gearbox cross member any good.?
Any other bits? Thanks

hi ive used e39 bits on mine: alternator + air duct, manifolds , pas pump, ecu(ews 3 in e39) works with e36 loom no probs, starter, gearbox + mounts(same as any). water hoses are useless to long except bottom expansion tank hose. you will need engine arms with PAS tank from e36 rest is the same.

e30 gearbox crossmember fits e39 gearbox.
