Block to Heater Matrix Hoses

Has anybody used silicon hoses for this?
I'm really struggling to make something work with silicon. Currently using a 45-degree 22mm-16mm reducing elbow and a length of 16mm flexi hose for the matrix out to pipe on block. However the inlet manifold, when fitted, puts pressure on this and kinks it
- Same strategy doesn't work at all for block to matrix in without kinking hose, I expect a 45-degree reducing elbow and a 130-degree elbow will do it but reluctant to throw more money at it for fear of more wastage.
Half tempted just to hit the scrappy with a measuring tape and pair of calipers and see what I can get to save wasting more money. Unless someone else has done this successfully and knows the exact bits needed...
