Hello after owning a small 316i for half a year the time finally came to liven her up! i got myself a non vanos m50 engine with just over 100k on the clock!
as its currently on small discs and useless drums I'm starting on the brakes first and believe the e30 325i rear arms are the best way to go! then 325i callipers and discs on the front.
But my main question is..
i've removed the old bmw servo and pulled out an old mk2 gti's from a mates garage.. now i know people have used these before but the arm through to the master cylinder is shorter on the mk2.. could i just use some sort of round bar? as a floating spacers or would this be a bit dodgy and need tacking on the end
cheers

A spacer between the pushrod in the servo and master cylinder is exactly what you need with the Mk2 servo (and the now favoured Clio servo).
A cut down bolt will do the job, but a decent bit of round bar would be better. The length needed does seem to vary a little, but with some trial and error you should get it right.
No need to tack it on, once you have right length it won't be going anywhere.

Nothing really for it to jam against. Just make sure the spacer is a good fit in the end of the master cylinder and long enough so there is no slack between the servo rod and master cylinder and it will be fine.

Does the Clio servo bolt on to the firewall without any adjustments?
