Ecu swap wont start

Got a suspect ecu that iv tried to swap with 2 working ecu's car wont fire ! Anyone had this before thought they were interchangabel

Which ECUs are you trying - they should have a part number on, e.g. 0 261 200 405.

If the car has the EWS system then you need to also make sure that the new ECU also has the corresponding EWS box and the key.

M52 ecu's are not interchangable unles ews gear that coresponds to the new Ecu is used.
M50 ecu's are interchangable though

Don't the later vanos M50's have EWS too, or was it just the M52?

you can pay to get someone out to code it all up for you but thats £120 for 20mins of work

Maroon label M50 ECU = No EWS.
Silver label M50 ECU = EWS.
They are directly interchangeable.
