Its a dual layer pcb ecu. You need to remove that pcb board and the chip is on the layer below

His is a non vanos engine so I'm guessing he got it from maurice (speedtouch), he does them for around £30 posted and the feedback on all his chips is great!

He hasn't got 1 available for the vanos version yet though, which I was gutted about but if you have a non vanos m50 your laughing. Drop him a pm :D

I'm laughing then as I have a non vanos.

Where can I read his feedback?

If you search chips sale in the parts for sale section you will see his thread..... In that is a link iirc to feedback from people who have had chips from him. If I'd had non vanos I would not have hesitated to get 1 but instead I'm going m52 2. 8 instead winkeye

magpie, you may want to check that the 403 ECU works with this chip, as it's intended for a 405 ECU.

it's now fitted to the car and working well, rev limiter is up to 7.5k rpm now and seems a bit more responsive :)

7.5k is abit dangerous on these isnt it? I thought it was safe to only rev to a max of around 7.2k?

the chips are soldered into the m52 ecus, you can only remap them
